Whether you have served on a PTA Board before or are a new PTA leader, the Leadership Academy is designed for you.

This year, join us as for a special keynote, “Turning Around a School with Social Emotional Learning” by Michael Essien, Principal Marting Luther King Junior Middle School, San Francisco.

Morning Workshop Sessions

Each attendee will get to choose one of these morning sessions, each with a focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL):

  • Sandy Hook Promise presents “Programs to Prevent Isolation and Keep School Communities Safe” - learn about the work Sandy Hook Promise is doing in coordination with Contra Costa schools such as “Start With Hello” and “Say Something”

  • The Anti Defamation League presents an interactive workshop to increase understanding and connections between a diverse community.

  • Learn the basics of mindful breathing and simple daily practice of meditation in an experiential workshop on Mindfulness Self Care.

Afternoon Sessions
Each attendee will choose one of these afternoon sessions, each will focus on job specific training:

  • President

  • Financial

  • Secretary

  • NEW for 2019 - Reflections “Look Within”

  • NEW for 2019 - Advanced Roundtable for Rising Council & District Board Leaders with CAPTA Parliamentarian Maggie Steele and CAPTA Leadership Mentor Melinda Kirkland. Topics include:

    • Mind shift towards serving the larger community: from unit to council or council to district

    • PTA Brand Ambassadorship and Relationship Building with School Administration and Board Members

    • CAPTA system resources for increasingly complex PTA issues

What will the day look like?

  • 8:30am - 9am: Check-in and On-Site Registration and continental breakfast

  • 9am: Keynote

  • 10:30am: Your choice of one Morning Session

  • 12pm: Lunch and Business Meeting

  • 1pm - 2:30pm: Your choice of one Afternoon Session

How much is a ticket? What’s included with my ticket?

  • Online Early Registration is $25 and will end on May 15, 2019. After May 15th, the cost will be $30 for both online and on-site/day of tickets. Your ticket covers a continental breakfast, lunch and workshop materials.

What is the refund policy? Is my registration transferrable?

  • No refunds are available. You may transfer your registration to another person.

Can I buy my ticket at the door?

  • Yes! Onsite registration will be available. Please note that you will be required to sign-up and pay via Eventbrite. Debit or Credit Card only.
